Today

This is the beginning of a new day,God has given me this day to use as I will.
I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is very important.
Because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever.
Leaving something in its place I have traded for it.
I want it to be gain, not loss – good not evil.
Success, not failure in order that
I shall not forget the price I paid for it.
My 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Burton used to make us write this poem as a means of discipline. Needless to say, I had it memorized. I am now going to recycle it and take a page out of Mrs. Burton's book. My 6th grader is just as stubborn and cocky as I was at his age. Maybe writing this poem a few hundred times will help him.

  1. That is sooooooo hilarious that you have the poem memorized. I didn't think you were naughty in the 6th grade! I thought that came later! :)
